- In case of nonexisting TR – {1, ‘Target TR does not exist’, ‘DIV_content’, row_index, cell_index}
- In case of nonexisting TD – {2, ‘Target TD does not exist’, ‘DIV_content’, row_index, cell_index}
Error type 0 (AJAX error, JSON parse error or table doesn’t exist) is non-recoverable error (after calling loadError() event handler, loadContent() method will stop). If boolen “false” is returned from this event handler, further processing will be stopped. It refers to error type 1 and type 2.
- Parameters:
- {Object} obj Optional
- Object properties are: type (message type), message text (error description), content (DIV content), rowIndex and cellIndex
- See:
- loadContent
// set REDIPS.drag reference var rd = REDIPS.drag; // define event.changed handler rd.event.changed = function () { // get current position (method returns positions as array) var pos = rd.getPosition(); // display current row and current cell console.log('Changed: ' + pos[1] + ' ' + pos[2]); };
- Parameters:
- {HTMLElement} currentCell Optional
- Reference to the current (highlighted) table cell.
- See:
- getPosition
- Parameters:
- {HTMLElement} currentCell Optional
- Reference to the table cell of clicked element.
- Parameters:
- {HTMLElement} clonedElement Optional
- Cloned element reference.
- See:
- moveObject
- Parameters:
- {HTMLElement} targetCell Optional
- Reference to the target table cell.
- Parameters:
- {Boolean} cloned Optional
- True if cloned element is directly moved to the trash (in one move). If cloned element is dropped to the table and then moved to the trash then “cloned” parameter will be set to false.
- Parameters:
- {HTMLElement} targetCell Optional
- Target cell reference.
- Parameters:
- {HTMLElement} targetCell Optional
- Target cell reference.
- event.droppedBefore
- event.dropped (only if event.droppedBefore doesn’t return false)
- event.finish
- So, event.finish will be called after deleting DIV element, cloning, switching and so on. Its main purpose is to execute some common code (like “cleaning”) after any DIV element action.
- Parameters:
- {Boolean} cloned Optional
- True if moved element is actually a cloned DIV. Needed for cases when obj or objOld should be used.
- See:
- clone.drop
- Parameters:
- {HTMLElement} div
- Reference of DIV element that is relocated.
- {HTMLElement} td
- Reference of TD where DIV element is relocated.
- Parameters:
- {HTMLElement} div
- Reference of DIV element that will be relocated.
- {HTMLElement} td
- Reference of TD where DIV element will be relocated.
- Parameters:
- {HTMLElement} currentCell Optional
- Reference to the current (highlighted) table cell.
- Parameters:
- {HTMLElement} currentCell Optional
- Reference to the table cell of clicked element.
- Parameters:
- {HTMLElement} targetRow Optional
- Reference to the target row (dropped row).
- {HTMLElement} sourceTable Optional
- Source table reference. If row is dropped to the same table then this reference and targetRow will be in correlation (actually “source table” contains targetRow).
- {Integer} sourceRowIndex Optional
- Source row index.
- Parameters:
- {HTMLElement} sourceTable Optional
- Source table reference.
- {Integer} sourceRowIndex Optional
- Source row index.
If boolen “false” is returned from event handler then row drop will be canceled.
- Parameters:
- {HTMLElement} targetCell Optional
- Reference to the target table cell.
- See:
- trash
- Parameters:
- {HTMLElement} td
- Reference of TD where overflow happen.
- See:
- dropMode
- Parameters:
- {HTMLElement} targetCell Optional
- Reference to the target table cell.
- See:
- dropMode
- See:
- trash
@Davidson – To append school subjects it’s needed to make small changes in style.css file. First make drag region visible by adding this style:
You will see that “trash” cell is exceeded out of drag region and that’s why doesn’t work after appending new subjects. The easiest fix is to comment “height: 320px;” for “#main_container #left” and to wrap back “trash” cell. So, let’s say that new subject is geography with id=”ge”. If you just insert row to the database (“ge”, “Geography”) it will be without color. Subject colors are defined in style.css also. Here is how to define “lime” color for geography in style.css:
… and Happy New Year to all of you!
Can you show me a demo or code with initTables.
i want to use it
In example 8 :Tables in separated containers
table 1 in div 1 , table 2 in div 2
how to drag and drop from table 1 to table 2 ?
@Trung Kien – example00 contains initTable() method and your second question – in example08 is not possible to drag DIV elements to other table.
example08 shows how to create completely separated drag containers on the same page. This drag containers are not aware of each other.
Hi,
I have two tables in one drag container.
1. How can I make “table1” drop_option=’single’ and “table2” drop_option=’shift’.
well, simply different “drop_option” for different “tables” in general “drag”
2. And How can I catch or see div/td element where I want to make drop?
thx!
@olympia – Here is example how to dynamically change dropMode. For this purpose is used changed event handler. The problem with this solution is transition from one table to the other because drop mode will be changed after TD is highlighted. Hope this will not be needed in your case.
Target TD and dragged DIV element can be referenced in many event handlers. The most common handlers are dropped and droppedBefore:
droppedBefore event handler have one nice feature (it’s called before DIV element is dropped to the table cell). If “false” is returned from it, DIV element will be return to the source TD (position).
Cheers!
hi,
txh for last question!
I have 2 tables and drop_option=’single’.
I get element from table2 and moved in table1 .. I hover this element on empty element in table1 and then return back without releasing the mouse button in table2 and not on empty element in table2. Then I let go of the mouse button and relocatable element will move in table1 :(
How can I make that this element will return to its place? Because in fact I didnt move this element …
thx!
@olympia – Short answer is that DIV element will be dropped to the last highlighted (available) table cell. If in your described procedure (when DIV element is returned to the table2), dragged DIV hovers empty cells before reaching occupied cell, then it will be dropped to the last highlighted cell in table2. This is how REDIPS.drag works. Highlighting TD elements below dragged DIV element should be a good info for user where DIV element will be placed. Occupied cells in dropMode=’single’ are “invisible” for lib and therefore are not highlighted at all.
Hi )
I hope I don’t worry you very much yet:)
I have 2 tables.
I move element without releasing the mouse button.
When I am moving element (slowly or fastly) from table1 to table2 that it moving normal.
But if I am moving back this element from table1 to table2 and my speed is very slow or simple slowly that element remains in table1 and if I am doing it again (moving element fastly hither and thither) so all is OK.
Can u help me and tell where I can change speed or how can I fix it?
thx!
@olympia – No problem at all. Effect of dragging DIV element is achieved by classic changing top and left styles. In a moment when user clicks on element, “mousemove” event listener is attached to the body. So, REDIPS.drag doesn’t have any parameter which can tune drag speed – it’s all in browser scope. If your tables are really big or browser/PC is slow then it’s possible that dragged DIV element in some cases will be behind mouse pointer. Hope this answers your question.
Hi – love this plugin. I am having a problem getting the drag to work in IE8 – is this a common problem? I notice it works in IE7 and IE9.
Thanks
@Dave – REDIPS.drag is tested to work on IE8+ browser family. The problem may be related to CSS. If you can prepare offline example, I will gladly try to see the source and try to fix it.
Hi, i’ve discovered a bug in the library.
It gives the following error in the source on line 919.
“An attempt was made to reference a Node in a context where it does not exist.”
if you have any table content outside of a declaration, dragging works, but it will crash on drop. However, this is valid HTML
for example: (used your example 15)
<thead>
<tr>
<th colspan=”6″ class=”mark”>Table 1</th>
</tr>
</thead>
<tbody>
<tr class=”rl”>
<td class=”rowhandler”><div class=”drag row”></div></td>
</tr>
</tbody>
@James Ostrowick – Please try latest version 5.0.8 just pushed to GitHub:
https://raw.github.com/dbunic/REDIPS_drag/master/redips-drag-min.js
Now should be possible to have THEAD and more TBODY table sections.
Thanks!
PS If it will be OK, than I will prepare package.
Hi,
Is it possible to turn off the animation using moveObject{id: … , target: … } ?
Best,
i have added a field in the database named batch_id which takes the id from batch masters and write to the batch_id field. iam not able to achieve this. Where i have to add the code to insert the batch_id. Pls help me with the same.
@mat742 – Unfortunately, moveObject() doesn’t have option to turn off animation, but you can try with relocate(). Usage is simple, define source and target table cell and method will relocate all DIV elements instantly to the target cell. Hope this will fit your needs.
@suj – Maybe you can see example03: School timetable where id of DIV elements are saved to the database. Just download redips2.tar.gz package and in example03 you will find all source files. If you are familiar with PHP/MySQL then this should not be a problem. Cheers!
Hi, I have a question that might be stupid, but I can’t find a solution. I’ve set a callback function on the dropped event. The documentation says that the callback syntax is dropped(targetCell), I thought that “target” meant the table cell where the moved div has been put. However, by displaying the id of the dragged cell, I saw that it was the same of targetCell, in other words it seems that targetCell is the cell being dropped and not the destination cell. Is it correct? Is this the expected behavior? If not, do you have any idea about why I’m getting such result?
thanks in advance
Davide
I think I’ve found my error: it seems that the targetCell is the cell being moved when the drop fails. Thank you for this beautiful library, just a little comment: a bit more documentation with examples may be very helpful.
Many thanks anyway
Davide
Thank you for sharing this with us
but i have a question how can i identify the number dropped in each cell if i want to measure something out of it
i’m a student and want to use this in an important project and i’ll appreciate it if you replay me as soon as possible
